The jigs support the body shell like the
spokes of a wheel in a very controlled manner and allow easy access
to your work. The building of the jigs is relatively straight
forward and does require metal cutting and welding skills. The
process begins by placing the hoop around both ends of the body shell once
it has been lifted to the proper height via jack stands, saw
horses, lift, etc. Using
the hoop holders at the bottom of the hoop
to help hold in place,
map
out the jigs with masking tape.
Most body shells will have many locations to bolt the jigs
to, such
as suspension mounting
location, seat belt nut plates, body mounts,
or even
pinch
welds can be used to clamp to or tack weld.
Triangulating the upper and lower jigs
will provide solid support and within a day you should be up
and rolling. An instructional DVD is included with the system
to help you determine the center of gravity of your body shell, and
several examples of how to build your jigs and general use and
maintenance of the system.
We offer a universal jig kit which
includes various lengths of 1" square tubing, brackets and hardware.
However, your local steel yard should have everything you need.
